My name is Kalani Cummins. I’m a freelance photographer and small business owner. I’m 26 years old, and I live in San Clemente with my beautiful wife, Kaelyn, our two groms, Knox & Addix, and our pup, Oaklee. As my friends and family know, my every-day driver is a Sprinter Van, I start every day with a cup of coffee, surfing is a crucial part of my morning routine, and I’d rather spend my money on experiences than things (unless its camera gear or surfboards)
I got into photography when I was about 15 years old. It started out at as a hobby, shooting surf both in and out of the water, but over time it became my dream job. As I developed my own style, my photography took off and my passion to capture a variety of subjects grew exponentially. It’s crazy to think I’ve been shooting for 11 years now.
Fast forward a few years, I got into wedding photography, brought my wife on board, and we started our business, Cummins Collective. We pride ourselves in making our couples feel comfy in front of the camera and mostly shoot with a documentary, candid-type style but do offer direction when needed and wanted. It is an honor for us to be able to capture our clients’ most special memories in a way that is unique, genuine, and authentic. We have so much fun with our couples and get so invested in the whole process that many of them become life-long friends.
Photography, in the surf and brand space as well as with weddings, has opened so many doors for me and has really shaped me into the man I am proud to be today. It has provided me with incredible opportunities to see the world and just as importantly, it’s allowed me the flexibility to be active and involved in raising my boys.
